It was not too long ago that if a couple found themselves struggling with infertility, the only options were to adopt or remain childless. IVF and many other assisted reproductive technologies expand the dizzying array of options for infertile couples to pursue in their desire to have children. Some of these options, however, may not be consistent with biblical principles of marriage and procreation, including for example, some forms of birth control and surrogate pregnancy. Christians considering assisted reproductive technologies need to be informed of both the science and moral issues involved in these techniques. The purpose of this section is to provide resources that will help Christians understand advances in assisted reproductive technologies from a Christian vantage point.
